  195.   Start Weather Watcher and right-click the "Display Options 
  196.   window" icon (Toolbox) on the main program interface.  The 
  197.   "Weather watcher options" window will now be in your view.

  199.   Note: You can also access the Options window from the
  200.         Weather Watcher system tray menu.

  203.   (1).  "General" Options area:

  205.       A.  Check the "Start minimized" checkbox to
  206.               minimize Weather Watcher to the system tray 
  207.               upon start-up.

  209.           B.  Check the "Set icon to Italic until weather
  210.               update" to set the tray icon font to Italic
  211.               until the first time the weather has been
  212.               updated.

  214.           C.  Check the "Retrieve forecasts" checkbox to

  252.           A.  Select the Active City to retrieve the weather for 
  253.               by selecting the desired city code from the 
  254.               "Active City" drop-down box.

  257.               current city from the "Active City" drop-down box.

  259.           C.  Use the "Remove All" button to delete all cities

  274.         A.  Select the desired update rate from the
  275.               "Forecast Auto Update Rate" drop-down box.  This 
  276.               rate is the amount of time Weather Watcher will 
  277.               wait between automatic forecast updates.

  279.           B.  Check the "Enable Auto Update" checkbox to
  280.               enable the Auto Update feature.

  282.       C.  Check the "Only download updates when connected
  283.               to the Internet" checkbox to stop your computer
  284.               from dialing to your ISP when you are not online.

  286.           D.  Check the "When update attempt fails, auto retry
  287.               every minute" checkbox to automatically attempt 
  288.               to retrieve any forecasts that failed during an 
  289.               auto update.

  292.   (5).  "Tray Icon" Options area:

  294.        A.  Check the "Display feels like temperature" checkbox
  295.               to display the Feels Like temperature in the system
  296.               tray icon.  If this checkbox is not checked, the 
  297.               actual temperature will be displayed in the system 
  298.               tray icon.

  300.           B.  Check the "Display degree symbol" checkbox to 
  301.               display the degree symbol (░) in the system tray 
  302.               icon.

  304.       C.  Check the "Do not display first digit when
  305.               temperature reaches 100░" checkbox to drop the
  306.               first number in the tray icon when the temperature  
  307.               is at least 100░.

  309.           D.  Check the "Flash icon/show popup when new weather 
  310.               alert is retrieved" checkbox to cause the system 
  311.               tray icon to flash (Windows 98) or a display popup 
  312.               (Windows 2K/XP) when a new weather alert is has 
  313.               been retrieved.

  315.               Note:  If checked, the icon will flash (Windows 98) 
  316.                      until Weather Weather is maximized.

  318.       E.  Check the "Go to weather.com on double-click" 
  319.               checkbox to open www.weather.com in your web 
  320.               browser when left double-clicking the Weather 
  321.               Watcher system tray icon.

  323.       F.  Check the "Never display tenths place" checkbox if 
  324.               you do not want the tray icon to shows the tenths 
  325.               place.

  327.               Note:  The tenths place will only show if the "Use 
  328.                      tenths place value when measuring temperature"
  329.                      checkbox is also checked in the "Conversion" 
  330.                      area of the Options.

  332.           E.  Set the system tray font, font size, font color,
  333.               and background color in the "Tray Icon Look & Feel" 
  334.               area.

  336.           Note:  The tray icon has a maximum width, which is 
  337.                  determined by windows.  If the tray icon does not 
  338.                  fit, you will either have to use a smaller font 
  339.                  face/size, or disable the display degree symbol 
  340.                  and/or display tenths place options.

  343.   (6).  "Tray Menu" Options area:
  344.     
  345.       A.  Choose the "Tray Menu Order" option to select 
  346.               between displaying the most used system tray menu 
  347.               items at the top of the menu, or displaying the 
  348.               most use system tray menu items at the bottom of 
  349.               the system tray menu.
  350.  
  351.           B.  Press the "Clear History Maps" button to delete all 
  352.               maps from the "Map History" menu area in the system 
  353.               tray icon menu and the map menu.

  356.  (7).  "Tray Tooltip" Options area:
  357.  
  358.       A.  In the "Values to Show in Tray Tooltip" area, select
  359.               the items to display in the system tray icon tooltip.

  361.           B.  Check the "Do not show measurement units" checkbox 
  362.               to remove all of the weather value units from the 
  363.               system tray tooltip.

  365.           C.  Check the "Abbreviate value descriptions" checkbox
  366.               to abbreviate the descriptions that are displayed 
  367.               before the weather values in the system tray 
  368.               tooltip.

  370.           D.  Check the "Do not show value descriptions" checkbox 
  371.               to remove all descriptions from the system tray 
  372.               tooltip.

  374.       Note:  Due to a limitation in Microsoft Windows, the 
  375.                  system tray tooltip has a maximum size of 64 
  376.                  characters.  Use the "Tray Tooltip Options" area 
  377.                  as needed to fit as much information as possible 
  378.                  in the system tray tooltip.

  381.   (8).  "On Download" Options area:

  383.           A.  Check the "Retrieve current conditions" checkbox
  384.               to download the current weather conditions when 
  385.               the weather is retrieved.

  387.       B.  Check the "Retrieve hourly forecast" checkbox to 
  388.               download the next 36-hour forecast when the weather 
  389.               is retrieved.

  391.           C.  Check the "Retrieve daily forecast" checkbox to 
  392.               download the 10-day night/day forecast when the 
  393.               weather is retrieved.

  395.           D.  Check the "Retrieve detailed forecast" checkbox
  396.               to download the 10-day text forecast when the 
  397.               weather is retrieved.

  399.       E.  Check the "Display time downloaded" checkbox to
  400.               display the local time the forecasts were  
  401.               downloaded at the bottom of each forecast.

  403.           F.  Check the "Display both time downloaded -and- time
  404.               observed at weather.com" to display both the local 
  405.               time the weather retrieved and the time (at the 
  406.               selected city) the weather was observed/forecasted.

  408.       G.  Check the "Use 24-hour time system" checkbox to 
  409.               display the downloaded/observed times using the 
  410.               24-hour time system.

  412.           H.  Check the "Disable IE clicking sound" to disable 
  413.               the sound (that IE makes when opening a new web 
  414.               page) when switching between the different 
  415.               forecasts.

  418.   (9).  "Conversion" Options area:

  420.         A.  Choose your Temperature, Wind, Visibility, 
  421.               Barometer, and Precipitation conversion preferences.

  423.           B.  Check the "Use tenths place value when measuring
  424.               temperature" checkbox to convert Celsius 
  425.               temperatures to the tenths place (i.e. 21.2░C 
  426.               instead of 22░C).

  428.               Note:  If you would like the tenths place to be 
  429.                      displayed in the system tray icon, then you 
  430.                      must also uncheck the "Never display tenths
  431.                      place" checkbox in the "Tray Icon" area of 
  432.                      the Options.

  435.   (10). "Sounds" Options area:

  437.           A.  Use the "Browse..." buttons to select the .WAV that
  438.               is associated with each sound alert.

  440.           B.  Use the "Test" buttons to listen to the sound that
  441.               is associated with each sound alert.

  443.       C.  Use the "Remove" buttons to remove the sound that is
  444.               associated with each sound alert.

  446.           D.  Check the "Sound until acknowledged" checkbox to 
  447.               cause the Severe Weather Alert sound to loop until 
  448.               acknowledged when there is a new severe weather  
  449.               alert.

  454.      Select the forecast skin from the "Forecast Skins" 
  455.          drop-down box.  Weather Watcher only comes with the  
  456.          "Default" skin.  Visit SingersCreations.com for more

  458.          skins.

  461.   (13).  "Wallpaper" Options area:
  462.  
  463.      A.  Select the auto update interval from the "Wallpaper
  464.              Auto Update Rate" drop-down box.  This rate is the 
  465.              amount of time Weather Watcher will wait before 
  466.              downloading and refreshing the Windows wallpaper.
  467.   
  468.          B.  Check the "Enable wallpaper auto update" checkbox 
  469.              to enable the wallpaper auto update feature.
  470.  
  471.          C.  Check the "Only update wallpaper when connected to 
  472.              the Internet" checkbox to stop your computer from 
  473.              dialing to your ISP when you are not online.

  475.      D.  Check the "On starting Weather Watcher, update the
  476.              wallpaper" checkbox if you would like your
  477.              wallpaper to automatically refresh on your desktop
  478.              when Weather Watcher is started.

  480.          E.  Check the "On exiting Weather Watcher, set
  481.              wallpaper to blank image" to set your desktop
  482.              background to a transparent image when exiting
  483.              Weather Watcher.  This essentially removes the
  484.              map from your wallpaper.

  486.      F.  Select "Center" or "Stretch" in the "Wallpaper 
  487.              Position" area to choose between 
  488.              centering/stretching the Windows wallpaper.

  494.              would like the maps to load into the web browser
  495.              that is specified as your default web browser.

  499.              the size of each map window that is opened.

  501.           C. Check the "Stretch maps to fit map window" if

  507.      Set the username/password for your proxy server.  This
  508.          information is only required if your proxy server
  509.          requires authentication.

  517.   If there is a Severe Weather Alert for your selected
  518.   city, the Weather Watcher icon will flash/display a popup 
  519.   in the system tray (if Weather Watcher is minimized).

  521.   When the tray icon is clicked, the system tray icon will 
  522.   return to its normal state, or the popup will disappear.

  524.   Note:  You must check the "Flash icon/show popup when new 
  525.          weather alert is retrieved" checkbox in the "Tray 
  526.          Icon" area of the Options in order to enable this 
  527.          feature.

  529.   When a severe weather alert has been issued, it will be 
  530.   displayed on the right side of the Current Conditions 
  531.   window (if using "Classic" forecast skin).  Click the

  541.   different sources on the Internet.  The major source of 
  542.   the data is retrieved from www.weather.com.  The weather 
  543.   data is not generated or owned by Singer's Creations.

  546.          view the weather information on your computer.
